Horror Fashion Make-up

|WELCOME TO THE HORROR |

John Galliano S/S 2010
'Yesterday Once More'

MODELS walked through a haze of bubbles at John Galliano’s show this evening, taking to the catwalk in veiled black lace, their plum lips peeping through and their hands and arms dressed in accompanying lace gloves.

There was something old Hollywood and something magical going on, which, at the same time as being romantic, had something sinister underlying it too – the lives of old Hollywood heroines and their bygone era lives acted as inspiration here. And, as chiffon gowns and costume jewels (pearls writhing around wrists, brooches, still with their price tags on as you’d find them at an antiques fair, pinned in their plenty onto a jacket), feathers and lace took to the catwalk, there was something Miss Havisham-meets-Sunset Boulevard about the collection.

My Interpretation-
The mood board we had to
create our look from in the
studio

How I created the look-
Products:
  • Charles Fox foundation palette
  • Illamasqua loose powder
  • Illamaaqua white base foundation
  • Charles Fox blush palette (red)
  • Illamasqua reflection palette (grey and beige)
  • Illamasqua primer
  • Illamasqua Neutral Palette (black and gold)
  • Avon Glimmerstick eyeliner (smokey grey and soft black)
  • collection 2000 black eye liner
  • Avon lipstick (black lily
  • Sleek lipstick matte vamp
  1. Firstly I started with priming the face with the Illamasqua primer, I then used the Charles Fox foundation palette and colour matched her skin between 2 of the colours. Once the foundation was applied I powdered the face with a white loose powder
  2. I then contoured the face quite dramatically with a red blush along the cheeks and on the temples.
  3. I then started on the eye lids where I used a creme shimmer eye shadow (Illamasqua refection palette) which was a mix of grey which covered the majority of the lid and up to the brow and then the beige in the middle on the eyelid.
  4. I then went over the lid with powder eye shadows which were black on the line of the lashes and in the corner of the eye and gold in the corner to the crease of the eye.
  5. Next I used the grey glimmerstick to line the lashes on the lid and follow out with a long flick I then did the same under the eye, following the bottom lashes and joining to the end flick. I then used the end of the brush which was a round sponge to smudge the black. I then went over the eyeliner with a liquid black eyeliner just to define the eyes and follow the flick.
  6. I then started on the brows which I used the black eyeliner to draw a line above the brows and a line below the brows, I then used a white base foundation the fill in the end of he brows and highlight under the brows and then a black powder to fill in the start of the brows on each side.
  7. Next was the lips which I used the glimmerstick liner to line the top arch of the lip in black just to define the top, I then filled it the middle to edge of the top of the lip with a mix of red vamp and lily black. I then lined the bottom lip with this red colour.

Overall I've very happy with the outcome of this horror fashion look I think I brought my own interpretation of the style and used a variety of products and deep colours to create this look. I think I could work on my blending on the eye lids a bit more and maybe make the look slightly more grungier so the black smudged more and try working on a paler base so the colours pop more.
