|UNIT EVALUATION|
Overall I feel relatively happy with how the first unit
turned out, I think in perspective to the characters we had to create which
were from the novel Great Expectations I felt I could of explored Miss Havisham
in more depth and created a slightly differently interpretation to her
character. I felt more restricted not on my idea however the depth and detail
in my design because of the assessment task of continuity. I wanted to make
sure that the continuity and look suited to TV and Film and portray a look that
I knew was able to recreate as prosthetic detail and colour is hard to create
again. I felt slightly more freedom with the Estella character however I felt
her make-up portrayal was quite limited and the look had to be historically
correct therefore going off in a contemporary direction wasn't the brief. When
reading the novel I felt literally challenged with the book due to the fact I
hardly ever read and found the book quite difficult to understand therefore it
took me a little while to gather ideas about the characters we had to create. I
furthered my knowledge on the novel by watching TV and Film adaptions of it
however each producer changes the novel ever so slightly to make it more
appealing and shorten the length of time. During this unit I feel I have definitely
learnt a variety of new make-up skills during our studio sessions learning
prosthetic skills and the depth of continuity. I enjoyed learning and exploring
a new era of hairstyles as the Victorians hair change throughout the century
which challenged me to create two completely different Victorian styled hair
designs.
